Sometimes, as a GM, you need an idea for an adventure. You may have the bulk of a campaign or adventure thought out, but maybe you’re lacking content for something between points a and b. Perhaps you committed to building a one shot and need inspiration. Maybe you know you want an adventure in a particular biome or setting, or have a theme in mind to explore, and having further details or content to ruminate on can help with inspiration or get the ball rolling. It’s also just fun, and sometimes useful, to look at writing prompts and others’ variations on themes and approaches to storytelling and share notes, as it were. Take what’s interesting or helpful and adapt it to your needs.
In that spirit, here’s our collection of Adventure Hooks. These will be skeletons of potential adventures and set pieces, monster stat blocks, and ready made items. We will pull back the curtain and share our thoughts and the reasons behind our decisions to add further context and guidance, as sort of an instruction manual for creating and running an adventure. Use as much or as little as you see fit, jury-rig and adapt what’d you like. Take a stat-block, change its creature type and hit points and the electric damage it deals to psionic and plop it where it works for you. Need a by-week? Run it as you find it as a pre-boxed, cake-mix, modular adventure. Perhaps you simply need a diverting read or inspiration for your own stories. Whatever works for you works for us.
